The art and craft of bookbinding offers hours of creative enjoyment to those who value text and image set between the covers of a book.
This new venture at Burradoo in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales offers participants the opportunity to obtain instruction in all forms of bookbinding, from traditional Western bookbinding, and bindings from other cultures, to books bound with a variety of decorative exposed sewings that will enhance your bookshelves.
Participants will also be introduced to a number of techniques to decorate paper for use in covers and end-papers as well as some simple printmaking techniques to add illustrations to their books.
The bindery at ‘Little Orchard’ is well equipped with basic bookbinding tools and students will be given instruction in the use of sewing frames, presses and the guillotine.
Classes will run with a minimum of four students and a maximum of ten.
